From Hannah : Jane and Alastair from the DTB also here
From Tim : and Alastair Brown from the Dons Trust Board
From Alastair Brown : hello!
From Rob Crane : Are we discussing point 4, 5 or 6 here?
From Niall Couper : Here are the points that we are looking at...
From Niall Couper : Point 4: Protect the Football Pyramid ↑
The conditions that led to us as fans having to reform our club as AFC Wimbledon came about because
the
integrity of the pyramid was compromised. Through our journey back to league football, AFC Wimbledon
also
stands as an example of the integrity of that pyramid. We will do everything we can to continue to
uphold
that integrity, and the system of football it represents.
From Niall Couper : Point 5: Celebrate and support the wider fan movement ↑
As fans, we have often felt the direct benefit from being part of a much wider movement of fans. We
want
to
ensure that we do all we can to support and help our fellow fans and those organisations that
represent
their interests.
From Niall Couper : Point 6: Oppose the franchising of football ↑
As a club, we exist because another town was granted permission to take our league place. This is
franchising, and we are opposed to it, regardless of the circumstances or the arguments used. Clubs
fundamentally belong to their communities, and no community has the right to take another's club.
From Hannah : Question for Anwar - can you share some examples of what you have
done with
other
clubs?
From Hannah : Great story, thanks for sharing. What's stopping more clubs doing
this?
From Niall Couper : Could this be our USP?
From Jane Lonsdale : Bangla Bantams are fab. Anwar - are kick it out / fans for
diversity
running
the awards again this season. We have our video and nomination ready for the Women at the Game and
the
Kicking out Abuse event from earlier in the season that you helped us with.
From Xavier Wiggins : On Point 5, I would like positive influencers at clubs to be
supported by
a
centralised fund to travel and spend time with groups at other clubs. Share good practice. Bantams
example.
From Jane Lonsdale : Bangla Bantams are fab. Anwar - are kick it out / fans for
diversity
running
the awards again this season. We have our video and nomination ready for the Women at the Game and
the
Kicking out Abuse event from earlier in the season that you helped us with.
From Niall Couper : Anwar how could you help us grasp this?
From Adam Procter : 10 mins left for questions to panel
From Niall Couper : Hannah and Jane good questions earlier to Anwar do you want to
ask them
with
the hands up function
From Rob Crane : I think we had been slowly overstretching ourselves for a number
of years,
always
scrabbling to try and boost the playing budget through donations etc, so not just November
From Adam Procter : so how do we enable diversity and wider fan support to invest
in the
club ?
From Peter Bowles : I think you're probably right Rob, but we need to make it clear
where
we're
sustainable and where we're not
From Adam Procter : 4 mins left
From Mark Lewis : The AFC Wimbledon Foundation IS doing good work in Mitcham and
Summerstown
with
under represented communities I believe
From Matthew Couper : Q. Do you think we need a number of advisors that we can call
on to
support
us to develop certain areas e.g having a diversity / community engagement panel.
From Xavier Wiggins : Matthew, yes.
From Jane Lonsdale : We worked with Anwar on that.
From Glenn Moore : couple of final points, DLAG has, as a by-product, been
excellent at
promoting
the club. Leaflet around Plough Lane, I used to live near Griffin Park, never received any
communication
from Brentford. Living near Kingston I have noticed a lot of marketing from Chelsea Women, including
leaflets, free tickets for schools, etc
From Adam Procter : yes the women in the game thing was excellent
From Jane Lonsdale : They were singing and chanting and making up their own chants
-they
were
amazing
From Glenn Moore : and a slogan or motto, something like ‘by the fans, for the
fans’
From Niall Couper : Thank you Anwar. Now we need to make it a named USP in my
opinion
From Adam Procter : thank you everyone
From Laurence Lowne : I was sitting here quietly
From Toni Shepherd : thank you to Glen and Anwar. really interesting input
From Adam Procter : amazing thank you everyone
From Jill Stratton : Really interesting conversation. Thanks Anwar and Glenn
From Mark Lewis : Great session everyone - many thanks for Anwar & Glenn
From Adam Procter : https://donstrustmanifesto.com - to see future panels
From Hannah : Thank you!
From Alastair Brown : Thank you - great discussion. Inspiring on a lot of the
community
engagement!
From Jane Lonsdale : Thanks all
From Niall Couper : Welcome feedback from everyone
From Tim Hillyer : Thank you everyone. Very interesting.
